We made a video of a casual daily scene in the Shinyurigaoka/Ozenji area in Asao Ward, Kawasaki City.
Eighty-eighth nights from the first day of spring of the lunar calendar to the new tea picking. March 19th is the halfway point of the period from February 4th to May 2nd. The cherry blossoms are starting to bloom and the sun is getting warmer.
The area around Shin-Yurigaoka Station is a suburban bedroom town for people who commute to Tokyo or Yokohama. The cherry blossoms bloom in the area around Ozenji Temple, which climbs up the hill, and after that, the dogwood trees lining the streets color the landscape from early April.
The tea leaves also grow steadily from the sprouts.
Around mid-April in the matcha-producing regions, the tea plantations are covered with cheesecloth to bring out the flavor.
